Legionella 'common' in compost brands, Strathclyde University study finds

Legionella bacteria appears to be "common" in many compost brands sold in the UK, a study has found.

A team from Strathclyde University in Glasgow tested 22 different brands of compost and found that 14 contained a variety of Legionella species.

It says a larger survey is needed to determine the extent of the issue.

The study, "Legionella spp. in UK composts - a potential public health issue", is published by Clinical Microbiology and Infection.

Legionella link to Royal Caribbean 'not definitive'

An ex-captain's death from Legionella cannot be definitively linked to a cruise ship, an inquest has heard.

Tore Myhra, 57, died in a Miami hospital in November 2009, four days after becoming ill on board a Royal Caribbean cruise.

An inquest in Norwich heard the ship tested negative for Legionella.

Norfolk assistant deputy coroner David Osborne said: "It's not possible to definitively say the ship was more likely than not the source."

But, he added, some water samples were taken only after "remediation" had been carried out because a passenger on the ship's previous cruise died of Legionella on her return to the UK.

Walker captures footage of 4ft shark swimming 10 miles inland in a river in Essex

A walker enjoying a stroll along the banks of a river in Essex was shocked to discover a four foot shark swimming alongside him when he spotted a fin sticking out of the water.

Jody Gibbons was walking along the banks of the River Stour with his father Gary when he spotted the creature 10 miles inland.

RAS Group Carry Out Large Format Printing for Wok and Go in Chester

RAS Group are specialists in large format printing. They recently printed off some large posters for the 'Wok and Go' chain of food bars, the flagship store is in Chester. The posters they printed were to advertise Wok and Go's new app for the iphone! The job entailed printing 2 A1 posters on 220gsm gloss poster paper to fit in an outdoor aboard on Chester high street.

They were printed with a Roland sc545ex digital printer, and then matt laminated.

The turnaround time was an astonishing 2 hours from approval of artwork!

They were also designed from a customer idea in his head from scratch.
